Shapeways.io isn't just a tech hub; it's a springboard for young people to launch themselves into the digital world. Founded by Obed Yeboah, Shapeways.io equips young and aspiring individuals with the technical and professional skills they need to thrive in today's dynamic job market.
Obed's entrepreneurial spirit shone through as early as 2012. It was then that he first sought out BLP's free 1:1 coaching programme, seeking guidance for his initial business idea. Fast forward to 2016, with a new and more refined vision, Obed returned to BLP, this time for Shapeways.io.
BLP recognised the potential in Shapeways.io, providing Obed with a crucial stepping stone. They offered him a free office space for a year, along with invaluable guidance and support in securing funding. This support resulted in a £5,000 grant that helped Shapeways.io take root and grow.
Over the past eight years, Shapeways.io has made a remarkable difference, supporting and equipping over 3,000 young people with the digital skills they need to succeed. The BLP centre remains their operational hub, and they actively utilise the community spaces to conduct workshops, programs, and events, fostering a supportive learning environment.
But Obed's vision extends beyond the UK. He's currently setting his sights on Ghana, establishing a computer training academy to support young people facing financial barriers to higher education.
